Nicholas graduated from Creighton University in 2017 where his research focused on adhesive dentistry, dental material topography, and mechanical testing. Nicholas then moved to the University of Minnesota to pursue his DDS/PhD. Nicholas focuses on the design and synthesis of biomaterials to improve the repair of oral tissues, particularly focusing on extending the life of Class V restorations. Nicholas' approach is interdisciplinary and he works to foster a diverse research environment. Nicholas currently lives with his cord-destroying pet rabbit Silvia.
